A week in review!

So this weeks assignment was to create a podcast. I'm am not a fan! I found it a cumbersome process as I had to download audacity and then download lame. Join esnips and podomatic. Then record, convert, add to podomatic and then add to esnips to make a widget. I may use this for an anatomy as this could be useful for review but I am a big believer in the students taking their own notes. I feel this is important because in college students will not get this type of information spoon fed to them. I think podcast has it's place I just need to learn how to incorporate this into the classroom.

  1. Now that you've got everything downloaded, hopefully this will go easier for you. I agree about notes, and you don't want the podcast to be a crutch. But I think a podcast could be really useful for pronunciation.

  2. I agree that the podcast can be a great tool for pronunciation. I know that would have helped me a lot when going through a few of my classes. Some words just don't look like they sound which can make it harder to learn the material. I also agree that students need to learn how to take their own notes and not be spoon fed. The challenge is finding the right balance so that technology is used as an aid and not a crutch.

  3. I see using a podcast as a music educator by singing particular parts (alto, soprano, etc.) for students to learn independently.
I would think that video podcasts would great for teachers to post on their blogs in order for students to review and tough concept that was explained in class.

  4. I see podcasts more as a tool to help student's review material. I know that I don't always remember everything that I "hear" in class; so oftentimes, I have to look things up and, honestly, there are times that I miss material in my notes.

On the other hand, podcasts are a lot of work and I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have on making them once I do have a full time teaching job.
